Karhorn via ferrata
On the Karhorn you will find Vorarlberg's first via ferrata. The access is located about 30 minutes away from the Steffisalpbahn mountain station in Warth.
- The ascent is relatively easy and also suitable for children. The climbing tour is located on the east ridge from the access point up to the peak with the difficulty levels B and C.
- The special highlight is the outstanding mountain panorama during the whole way up to the summit, which gets even better once you are standing on the mountain top.
- You can also access the trail at a later point, just take the Steffisalp-Express to the mountain station and from there walk to the Wartherhornsattel.
- Descent on the Karhorn Massif's south face via a normal path to the Wartherhornsattel. From here you can take the cable car or walk back to the starting point.
- The whole via ferrata takes about 2.5 hours. If you start at the Wartherhornsattel access it's only about 45 minutes.
Part 2: the west ridge
Ambitious climbers can climb further, starting from the Wartherhornsattel's peak. There is a 600 metre long extension to a long slab of rock on the west ridge; the difficulty levels here are C and D.
It's about another 1.5 hours from the mountain top to get there.
